Designing Market Alley

I have collaborated with the city of Meadville, the Redevelopment Authority of Meadville, and Rose Architectural Fellow Steve Utz to refine the designs for Market Alley, which feature the city’s first daylighting project for Mill Run.

The Plans Provided For

  • an undulating blue walkway to suggest water
  • planters and benches sited at both ends of the alley
  • development of a recycling plan for downtown Meadville
  • placing electric wires underground
  • daylighting Mill Run

In working collaboratively we can transform our environment to reflect the beauty and uniqueness of our home. Ultimately, Market Alley is about the creation of place. Creating a beautiful place involves the visualization and creation of strong works of art, and the application of environmental and political concepts, and the involvement of many community constituents.
